I’m Stephen, a writer, singer/songwriter, and IT professional. I hail from Atlanta, GA, where I live with my two dogs and adult cat (who’s still living at home). I hold a very coveted, very prestigious B.A. in English from Georgia State University, and am a passionate storyteller. My fiction spans contemporary and speculative genres, with a focus on LGBTQIA+ characters, themes, and narratives. When not writing, you’ll probably find me crafting indie pop songs, exploring open-world video games, or shimmying my way down to the yoga studio.

RE: My Art

One of my earliest memories is staring up at the popcorn ceiling of my stuffy first-grade classroom, imagining a harrowing quest of heroes and villains unfolding across its vast, mountainous terrain. This habit remains to this day. I spend a lot of time in my head — dreaming about imaginary worlds and the people that live in them, or crafting melodies that put feelings into words — and I love finding new and creative ways of imagining the unimaginable.

Meet the Furs 🐾

Jack (Mimi)

Jack joined the family in February of 2015. He’s a Chihuahua, and he’s my best friend on the entire planet (as evidenced by the photos of the many adventures we embark on together). He loves people, basking in the sunshine, cussing out those who do not drop everything to give him pets, and enjoying delicious treats.

Titus (Titi)

Titi joined the family in June of 2016. He’s a Blue Russian. His name comes from the fictional character, Titus Andromedon, from the Netflix Sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Just like the character, Titi is a sassy, eyebrow-tilting diva. Underneath, however, he’s an easygoing loner with an occasional penchant for affection. He loves lounging, posing, staring out of the window, and playing with his brother and best friend, Buckley.

Buckley

Buckley joined the family in January of 2022. We think he’s a Chiweenie (a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix). His name comes from the American musician Jeff Buckley. He’s an anxious boy who’s afraid of sound, sudden movements, and change. He loves playing with his ball, and pestering his brother and best friend, Titi.

Owen

I adopted Owen in January of 2014. He was an Orange Tabby, and the first member of the family. He tragically passed away in December of 2023. A cat through and through — obstinate, ornery, independent, and mischievous — he was very opinionated, always walking into the room with a trill. As he got older, he became a teddy bear who loved to cuddle. He was only 10.
